IF I HAD…
If I had an education, I would always do my homework,
I would go to school every day and I wouldn’t skip class, even if school was
far from the shack where I live. Because school is a fantastic place where you
can learn lots of things like writing and reading.
Maybe in your countries these things are very simple,
but if I had an education I would know how to add and how to subtract and
salesmen wouldn’t trick me when I go to the market. They always charge me more
than it costs and that makes me waste the little money I have.
Also, if I had an education, I would know that I
wouldn’t have to be anybody’s slave. And I wouldn’t have to work with other
children. I work 10 hours for only $0.25 and without breaks but here this is such
a good job. Anyway, I have to work to support my family because my father was
killed.
That’s why if I had an education, I would study hard
to become the best doctor of Africa. I would take care of all Chipinge's people,
the town where I live in Zimbabwe. And I would take care especially of my
mother and my baby brother, because they have got malaria.
If I had an education, once I would become the best
doctor of Africa and I would help Chipinge’s people I would take my family to a
developed country so we would finally have a better quality of life and live
happily.
But I’m not that lucky and I don’t have an education.
I’m writing this ‘letter’ to show how important education is for me and how it
would help me. I would like you to improve education here in Chipinge,
Zimbabwe, so every child can have a better future. Like the future I’d wish for
me.
this is a very touching story
